Yes, there is a possibility that the permit may be lost or stolen. It is very important that you secure your car when parked on campus.
If your permit is lost, you must pay a prorated price for a replacement. Report the loss to KU Parking & Transit immediately. We do encourage you to file a report with the police. If we are able to recover your permit, we will issue you a prorated refund for the price of the second permit upon its return.
If your permit is stolen, you must pay a prorated price for a replacement. Report the stolen permit to KU Parking Department & Transit immediately. You must file a report with the police. If we are able to recover your permit, we will issue you a prorated refund for the price of the second permit upon its return.
In either case, you will be asked to fill out and sign a statement at the Parking Department Office verifying that you reported your permit lost/stolen. You will need to provide a copy of the police report, or the case number assigned by the police.
For lost or stolen permits, the Parking Department will program your permit number into the computerized handheld ticket writer. Upon routine scan of the parking lots, vehicles displaying lost/stolen or forged/altered permits will be towed, issued a $100.00 ticket and the police notified.
If you have any questions about any of these procedures or policies, please feel free to contact this department via email, mail, phone, or just stop by our office.
