Please note: The university's contract with Hertz will end at the end of the Spring 2014 semester. We are working out the details of a new program, which will launch at the beginning of the Fall 2014 semester. Please check back here for new details over the summer.
What is Hertz 24/7?
Hertz 24/7 is a car-rental service available to the KU campus community that allows students, faculty, and staff to enjoy the luxury of having a car without the hassle of owning one. Registration and membership is free, so you only pay for the cars when you need to use them. The program is open to anyone age 18 or older with a valid driver's license.
How do I use Hertz 24/7?
In order to use the Hertz cars you will first need to create a free profile with Hertz. When an account has been activated, you will receive an electronic key fob in the mail (allow up to 7 days for delivery). When you need to use a car, you will simply go online to reserve one for as long as you need it, (with the minimum reservation being an hour). The electronic key fob will function to unlock the doors and start the engine for the vehicle you selected to reserve when it is your reserved time to use it. When you have finished using the Hertz car you must return it to its reserved stall for the next user.
The cost of reserving a Hertz 24/7 car is currently $8 per hour, which includes the following benefits:
- 24/7 Vehicle Access
- Gas & Insurance
- 180 Miles per 24-hour period1
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance
- GPS, Bluetooth® & iPod Connectivity
- 24-Hour In Car Member Care
1 180 miles included per 24 hour period, additional mileage $0.45 per mile.
